The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to participate in the upcoming Parliamentary Security Committee meeting, preparing a list of its representatives for the in-camera session scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday).
According to sources, 14 PTI parliamentarians, including 10 National Assembly members and four senators, will attend the briefing.
Prominent attendees include PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omer Ayub, and former speaker Asad Qaiser. Others on the list include Zartaj Gul, former chief whip Aamir Dogar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Ali Muhammad Khan, Bashir Khan, Sanaullah Mastikhel, and Zubair Khan from the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Senate representatives include Shibli Faraz, Ali Zafar, Dr. Humayun Mohmand, and Aun Abbas Bappi.
The official list of PTI nominees has been sent to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq by PTI former chief whip Aamir Dogar.
Shibli Faraz demands consultation with Imran Khan
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Shibli Faraz has voiced concerns about the upcoming security briefing, stating that any discussion on national security remains incomplete without consulting PTI’s founder Imran Khan.
Faraz emphasized that the support of PTI’s founding chairman is crucial for shaping an effective anti-terrorism strategy, adding that the success of the National Action Plan was largely due to the PTI’s commitment.
“The speaker of the National Assembly must fulfil the promise of allowing a PTI delegation's consultation with its founding chairman,” Shibli Faraz urged.
He further warned that failing to involve the party’s founding leader would only deepen political instability, making efforts against terrorism ineffective.
