Sunday (today) marks the deadline for submitting preliminary squads for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy, as per ICC regulations requiring team names to be submitted one month before the sports parade.
The sports parade for the tournament is set to begin on February 12.
According to sources, Pakistan will send the preliminary squad names to the ICC to fulfill procedural requirements.
However, there is no intention to officially announce the squad at this stage.
The finalization of Pakistan’s Champions Trophy squad hinges on the fitness of Saim Ayub. His participation in the tournament remains subject to medical clearance.
The final squad is expected to be finalized by February 11, pending ICC approval.
Pakistan’s Tri-Series to Shape Champions Trophy Squad
Pakistan is set to participate in a tri-series before the Champions Trophy. Sources indicate that there will be minimal changes in the squad that recently played against South Africa. Fakhar Zaman is reportedly being considered for inclusion in the tri-series.
The Champions Trophy squad will only include players from the tri-series lineup, making their performances in the series crucial for selection.
