The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released updated statistics on social media usage in the country, revealing the number of active users on popular platforms as of January 2024.
According to the data, Pakistan has 60.4 million Facebook users, with a significant male dominance -- 77% of the users are male, while 24% are female.
On YouTube, the number of users stands at 71.7 million, with 72% male users and 28% female users, reflecting the platform’s wide reach across the country.
TikTok, another highly popular platform, recorded 54.4 million users. Here too, male users dominate, comprising 78% of the user base, while female users account for 22%.
Instagram, which has a smaller user base compared to the other platforms, recorded 17.3 million users in January 2024. Of these, 64% are male, and 36% are female.
These statistics underline the growing digital engagement in Pakistan, with social media platforms playing a key role in the daily lives of millions across the country.
