In a significant move, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating a malicious social media campaign has issued notices to several suspects involved in spreading unrest across Pakistan.
The campaign, which aimed to create chaos and division, has raised serious concerns for national security.
The JIT, led by Inspector General of Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi, has named individuals including Sibtullah Wark, Muhammad Arshad, Atta-ur-Rehman, Azhar Mishwani, Komal Afridi, Arusa Nadeem Shah, and M. Ali Malik. The suspects have been summoned for questioning on December 13.
The federal government established the JIT under Section 30 of the PECA Act 2016 to investigate the matter, which involves using social media to destabilize the country. The team is focused on identifying the hidden motives of the suspects and their associates. Sources suggest that the JIT has gathered substantial evidence linking the suspects to a campaign of propaganda aimed at inciting disorder.
Authorities have emphasized that further investigation is underway, and additional suspects are expected to be identified. Legal action will be taken in accordance with applicable laws to address these crimes. The case highlights the government's efforts to tackle cyber-crimes and ensure the safety and security of the public in the digital era.
