The Lahore High Court conducted a hearing on a petition seeking improvement in internet speed across the country. The court issued notices to the federal government and other concerned parties, directing them to submit their responses.
Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal presided over the hearing on a miscellaneous petition filed by the Judicial Activism Panel.
According to the petitioner, based on data from the World Population Review, Pakistan ranks 198th globally regarding internet speed. The petition requested the court to issue orders for enhancing internet speed nationwide.
Additionally, the petition appealed to the court to lift restrictions on the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
The court has sought replies from the relevant authorities to proceed further on the matter.
