Rajender Meghwar has become the first Hindu officer to join the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).
Meghwar, who has started his duties as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Faisalabad.
A native of Badin - an underdeveloped area in Sindh - Meghwar’s achievement is particularly noteworthy as he successfully passed the competitive Civil Services Examination (CSS) to earn his place in the police force.
Speaking to the media, Meghwar expressed his deep sense of fulfillment at realizing his long-held dream of serving his country in a capacity that allows him to directly address the challenges faced by his community.
"For me, being part of the police force is an opportunity to make a difference at the grassroots level. Working in the police gives me the chance to address the concerns of my community in ways that would be difficult in other roles," Meghwar said.
In addition to Meghwar's groundbreaking achievement, another minority woman, Roopmati, from Rahim Yar Khan, has also successfully cleared the CSS exam. Roopmati has expressed her desire to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to play a role in promoting Pakistan’s positive image on the global stage.
