Apple is set to launch the most affordable iPhone to feature its advanced AI-powered Apple Intelligence suite, the iPhone SE 4, in early 2025.
Apple enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the launch of the iPhone SE 4, the next-generation budget-friendly model that promises to offer powerful features previously seen only in flagship devices.
Expected to launch in early 2025, the iPhone SE 4 is set to make a significant leap in both performance and design, offering users a cost-effective way to experience Apple’s latest technology.
According to industry sources, Apple plans to begin production of the iPhone SE 4 as early as December 2024, with a global release scheduled for April 2025. What sets this model apart is its anticipated inclusion of the A18 series chip, the same processor expected to power the upcoming iPhone 16. This upgrade marks a substantial improvement over the A15 Bionic chip used in previous SE models, including the iPhone SE 3.
The A18 chip is expected to bring advanced AI capabilities to the SE 4, with enhanced features powered by Apple Intelligence. This includes an upgraded Siri, advanced writing tools, improved photo editing features, and more, making it Apple's most affordable iPhone offering Apple Intelligence to date. This would enable users to access cutting-edge functionalities without breaking the bank.
Design overhaul
In terms of design, the iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to adopt a more modern look, moving away from the traditional home button and featuring slimmer bezels. The device is expected to sport a 6.1-inch OLED display, a significant upgrade over the SE 3’s 4.7-inch LCD screen, offering users a more vibrant and immersive viewing experience.
Another key update is the inclusion of Face ID, which will replace the Touch ID feature, providing a more secure and seamless unlocking experience similar to that of Apple’s premium models. This marks a significant shift for the SE line, which has traditionally relied on older design elements.
Camera and performance
The camera capabilities of the iPhone SE 4 are also expected to see a major improvement. The current 12-megapixel single-camera setup will be replaced with a more powerful 48-megapixel sensor, providing sharper images and enhanced low-light performance. The new camera system, combined with Apple Intelligence, is expected to elevate features like Smart HDR, Night Mode, and photo editing, offering users a more advanced photography experience on a budget.
The front camera is also expected to be upgraded to 12 megapixels, improving selfie quality and video call clarity—an essential feature for today’s social media and remote work environments.
Battery and charging
Battery life is another area set for improvement, with the SE 4 expected to house a larger 3,279mAh battery, a notable increase over the 2,018mAh battery found in the SE 3. This will likely result in longer battery life, allowing users to get through the day without frequent recharges.
In line with new EU regulations, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature USB-C charging, making it more compatible with a wider range of devices. Fast charging is also anticipated to remain at 20W, enabling quicker power-ups compared to earlier models.
Price and availability
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be priced between $499 and $549 in the U.S., slightly higher than the SE 3’s launch price of $429. However, the price increase is justified by the enhanced features and the inclusion of the A18 chip, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers who still want a premium iPhone experience.
In India, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be priced between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000, aligning with the SE 3’s original pricing and making it an appealing choice for those looking for an affordable iPhone that doesn’t compromise on performance or design.
