Punjab govt responsible for Islamabad protests

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has held Punjab government responsible for violent protests in Islamabad, SAMAA reports.

On Friday, thousands of protestors penetrated the heavily-guarded diplomatic enclave in Islamabad as clashes with police left more than 50 people injured.

Malik, while addressing a news conference, alleged that 35,000 protectors were sent from Punjab on Friday to enter the federal capital in protest against the blasphemous film.

He condemned Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan on the grounds that they had never criticized Taliban. “The Punjab government considers Taliban their friend but we have no agreement with them [Taliban],” he said.

Malik said the government disowns federal railway minister’s $0.1 million bounty he announced for producer of the blasphemous video, saying that the announcement was made in personal capacity. – SAMAA
