KARACHI: The committee tasked with sighting the crescent moon that marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan in Pakistan is meeting in Karachi today (Friday).
According to reports reaching here, the moon has not been sighted in Lahore and Islamabad due to cloudy weather. However, three people have reportedly sighted the crescent in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Met office has now ruled out the possibility of sighting of moon anywhere in Punjab. The meeting of Islamabad zonal committee has also ended without any evidence of moon sighting.
The central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee under chair of Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman is meeting at Department of Meteorology in Karachi to sight the moon.
The Met office and astronomy experts believed that the moon might be visible in some southern parts of the country. SAMAA
