ISLAMABAD: The nominated Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (rtd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim said he is opposed to the dual nationality of the lawmakers.
Talking to media outside the Supreme Court (SC), Justice Fakhr said it is only the Prime Minister who can unfold as to when the general elections are to be held; however, destruction is bound to trail if elections are avoided.
Vowing to accept the office of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as a challenge, Fakhruddin stressed he will attempt to create consensus regarding elections and meeting all political parties will comprise the part of his responsibilities in this connection.
Underscoring the need to ensure the free, fair and transparent elections in the country, the in-line CEC Fakhr laid out his course of action, saying, “After taking over as CEC, I will take stock of as to why the electoral rolls were not prepared thus far.”
“I am, however, quite contented that change will ensue,” Justice Fakhurddin noted emphasizing the oath-taking ceremony should be delayed, --“The more delayed, the better.” SAMAA
