KARACHI: The number of victims of the ongoing violence raging during the last 24 hours in the city, mounted to eight; also, an operative of a political party has been laid to rest, SAMAA reports Tuesday.
The body of the other has been dispatched towards his native area of Swabi.
A youth’s body was recovered from Malir River. Body could not be identified.
Earlier yesterday, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ismail Mehsud’s vehicle was ambushed near Shafiq Morr of the city. His party worker and driver Shakeel Khan was injured in the attack and later on, he succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
Funeral prayer for the eternal peace of Shakeel Khan was offered late yesterday night on Abul Isfahani Road in Sohrab Goth.
Talking to media, Ismail Mehsud said he was on way with his family when his vehicle came under attack.
A man was killed in a firing incident in Sohrab Goth. Meantime, a police mobile van came under gunfire attack near Civil Hospital, where a police constable Hasnain Raza was injured.
Some people took to road in North Nazimabad in protest against the killing of former office-bearer of the ANP Naseeb Khan, who was killed near Hussain De Silva Town. The enraged protesters staged demonstration at Inter Board Office and its surrounding areas.
The funeral prayer of the deceased was offered at Shahra-e-Noor. The ANP leader Bashir Jan appealed to the workers to remain peaceful.
In another incident of firing near Shafiq Morr, a man was killed and two others were critically injured. Meantime, the residents of Water Pump, Yousuf Plaza mounted protest against the target killing spree in progress in the city. The protesters blocked the Shahra-e-Pakistan.
A tortured body a man was retrieved from a water tank from Shafiq Colony in Federal B. Area. Body of a youth who was earlier abducted, was found near Lucky coach bus stop located near Bhains Colony in Landhi.
Another firing incident occurred near Hasan Square where a rickshaw driver Sadiq was injured when gunshots were fired at his rickshaw. A youth was injured in a firing incident in New Karachi Industrial Area.
Meantime, police arrested Irfan, an operative of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Pak Colony. SAMAA
