Fatyana’s arrest condemned as political vendetta

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Executive Director of Parliamentarian Commission for Human Rights, Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, on Wednesday condemned Riaz Fatyana’s arrest as political victimization.

Addressing a press conference here, Shafiq said the FIR lodged against Fatyana was based on lie.

“Riaz Fatyana has always been a human rights activist. The allegations leveled against him are merely a ploy of opponents,” he said.

He said the Punjab government has completely failed to deal with the energy crisis and that now it has resorted to politics of agitation to conceal its failure.

Speaking on this occasion, MNA Atia Inayatullah said Riaz Fatyana is the Chairman of Standing Committee on Human Rights. She said Fatyana’s arrest was unjustified. SAMAA
