PM Gilani announces to hold Local Bodies polls in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday announced to hold local bodies elections in the federal capital.

Addressing a ceremony held at Radio Pakistan, the PM Gilani said, “I stayed with the people of Pakistan at every critical juncture,” noting the PPP government implemented 80 percent of its manifesto in four years and the PPP is still acting upon its manifesto.

He said the government is making permanent without any discrimination the people who were appointed on contract basis during Nawaz era; but, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sacked the people given jobs by the PPP government.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) got 80 percent success in the by-elections held during the last four years, he said.

“The provinces did not accept the Local Bodies elections; but, I do,” the contempt convicted premier said adding, “I will hold the local governments elections regardless anyone accedes to it or not.”

“I served ten-year term in jail for giving jobs to the people of Pakistan. I never criticized anyone thus far. It is the duty of the National Assembly Speaker to run the house in conformity with requirements,” the PM Gilani noted.

He said he wondered under which ruling of the judiciary, the journey undertaken from Adiala Jail to Jeddah. SAMAA
